
Download Members of the Burmese diaspora say they are disappointed by the release of around 30 political prisoners, saying they expected more to be released.
The release of around 1,000, including at least 32, possibly 34 political prisoners, follows the previous release of around 200 political prisoners in October.
This is one of a number of politcal and social reforms by Burma’s President Thein Sein.
These changes have triggered some cautious optimism among Burmese refugee communities in Thailand.
