Several protests demanding the project be halted have been staged.

And recent investigations by the anti-APECO international mission have revealed early signs of human rights violations in the project area, located in the isolated municipality of Casiguran.

“Postcards from the Zoo” is up against strong competition, but the film has already been snapped up countries such as Germany and Korea.

The Berlinale is one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world, along with the Academy Awards, Cannes and the Venice Film Festival.

With three other Indonesian films to be screened at the event, Indonesian filmmakers are fast making their mark on Europe’s big screens.
