Download South Korea’s Park Geun-hye says she’ll run to become the nation’s first female president in next December’s election – but is this a step forward for the country, or a step back?
She’s the daughter of the late military dictator President Park Chung-hee. Many credit him with kick-starting Korea’s economic growth in the 1960s – but he also cracked down on civil rights and democratic freedoms.

But some say she’s going to have a tough time winning over progressive voters, and especially young women.

Download Singapore's highest court has agreed to hear a case aimed at stopping the government from handing a 4 billion US dollars loan to the International Monetary Fund.
The application to the High Court has been filed by the leader of the opposition reform party.
Kenneth Jeyaretnam argues the move is unconstitutional because it wasn't approved by parliament and the president.
But the Singaporean authorities claim the constitutional question doesn't apply because they say the IMF loan doesn't come under the banner of government lending.
Girish Sawlani from Radio Australia has the report.
